As a TV and radio host in Phnom Penh, Lim Thida understands her influence on the public, and has decided to use her position to spread awareness on social issues. One such issue that Ms. Thida is particularly passionate about is access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, collectively known as WASH. “…Water, sanitation, and hygiene are important for all human beings”, Thida states, “As a citizen I can contribute my professional expertise in the area of media [because] I understand the role of media in making [WASH] improve.”

As part of her commitment to improving WASH, Thida underwent training with ANSA focused around WASH and human rights. She exemplified her commitment even further on the November 20th, 2020 episode of her TV talk show, where she invited numerous experts and officials to discuss WASH improvement. The list included an official from the Ministry of Rural Development, a representative from the AMK Micro-Finance Institution, and the Executive Director of ANSA. The guests discussed the need to create new guidelines and policies to improve WASH, and agreed that WASH improvement is a pressing need that is in the best interests for all Cambodians. Thida also allowed questions from the audience, promoting engagement from the public as well.
